Devikulam

Devikulam is a small hill station situated a little ahead of Munnar. Concealed by the popularity of Munnar, Devikulam boasts of lush green hills covered by clouds. According to popular beliefs, Goddess Sita took bath in the waters of the lake in Devikulam, which is now known as the Sita Devi Lake. The water of the lake is now considered sacred, and is also known for its medicinal properties. The rare fauna and flora and soothing cool breeze of Devikulam offer a perfect getaway to those seeking escape from the chaotic city life.

Attractions
A major attraction of Devikulam is the Mattupetty Lake. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and hill-locks. The lake offers a serene picturesque view that shouldn’t be missed at any cost.

Another major attraction here is the the Eravikulam National Park, which was initially a sanctuary. Some of the mammals spotted here are sambar deer, jungle cat, wild dog, leopard, tiger, golden jackal and others. Nilgiri langur, Indian porcupine, Nilgiri marten, ruddy mongoose, dusky palm squirrel, and small clawed otter are among the top small animals spotted here.

Keezharkuthu Falls is also a major attraction here. Also known as the rainbow falls, the surrounding greenery of the falls is known to be the home of various medicinal and therapeutic plants. Thoovanam Fall located inside the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is another beautiful fall in Devikulam. Although the sanctuary isn’t open to tourist all year round, the Thoovanam Fall can still be visited anytime of the year. The waterfalls can be reached via trekking trek that offers an opportunity to witness wildlife at its natural best.

Nature enthusiasts can experience heaven on Earth with wild flowers and rare herbs growing in the bounty of Devikulam Hills. Pallivasal Waterfall makes for an excellent spot for picnic. Surrounded by several tea plantations, the charm of the hill station is doubled.
