Chowmahalla Palace

Chowmahalla Palace is a grand palace of the Nizams in the Indian state of Hyderabad. The palace oozes glory of the past and takes you for a rollercoaster ride to the time when royal kings used to rule here. This is a great gift from history for the present and many future generations to come.

History
Chowmahalla Palace was raised in the 18th century. This remains one of the most visited historical sites in the city. The palace was built between 1857 and 1869 under the rule of fifth Nizam, Afzar-ud-Daulah, Asaf Jav V. However, most of its structure was completed during the time of Nizam Salabat Jang in 1790.

Structure
Chowmahalla Palace covers 45 acres of land extending from the Laad Bazaar on the north to the Aspan Chowk Road on the south. It houses two courtyards. The southern courtyard houses palaces like Afzal Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, and Aftab Mahal. On the other hand, the northern courtyard houses Bara Imam, a long corridor featuring numerous rooms.
The palace also houses a Clock Tower, Council Hall and Roshan Bungalow. Roshan Bungalow is a royal looking palace named after the mother of sixth Nizam. The Council Hall here houses numerous manuscripts and some rare books from the collection of Nizam.
In the center of the palace rests Khilwat Mubar, a life size Durbar hall adorned with Mughal style domes, impressive arches and an elaborate Persian work.
Chowmahalla Palace is nestling with extensive lawns adding contrast to its yellow and white motifs. The entrance of the palace has a huge water fountain with creatively carved pillars. Intricate carvings cover all the walls and ceilings of the palace, and glass chandeliers in all rooms never fail to catch the attention of visitors. Do not miss a chance to get yourself clicked with a Vintage car and Buggee displayed here. The palace is perfect for photography and photo-walks and looks nothing less than a dream.

How to Reach:
Chowmahalla Palace is very close to Charminar, a landmark attraction in the city. One can easily find auto rickshaw to the palace.
