Sathyabhama Temple is a modern temple constructed by a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba. The temple is dedicated to Sathyabhama, wife of Lord Krishna. The sanctum of the temple has a three feet high magnificent statue of the main deity. Reputed to be the single most shrine dedicated to Sathyabhama, it was built by Sri Ratnakarm Kondama Raju, who was the paternal grandfather of Sai Baba.
Legends
According to popular legends, the temple was constructed owing to a dream where Sri Ratnakaram Kopnsama Raju saw that Sathyabhama was waiting for her lord who had gone on a journey to bring the coveted ‘Parijatha’ flowers. When after several hours, Lord Krishna did not return, Sathyabhama broke into tears. This led to a huge breakout in the climate and there was a storm accompanied by thunder, lightning and heavy rains. On seeing Kondama Raju, who was passing across the place, she stood and asked him to provide some shelter.
This dream inspired him to construct a temple devoted to the consort of the Lord.
