Andhra Pradesh surprises you with its diversity of wildlife flourishing due to the state’s varied topography. The state takes you on a rollercoaster ride amidst the wild that sprawls across the beautiful hills of Nallamala and the Eastern Ghats and the shores of Bay of Bengal. National Parks here act home to tigers, panthers, wolves, wild dogs, sloth bears, and other animals apart from some endangered species of birds.

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park
The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is located in Visakhapatnam covering an area of 250 hectares. This is the second biggest zoological park here where you can explore a variety of flora and fauna. Among the 400 varieties of fauna residing in the park, the most popular ones are lions, tigers, monkeys, deer, etc. Deer safari is extremely popular here and takes you on a ride through this house of wild.

Kolleru Lake Bird Sanctuary
This remains the best fresh water sanctuary in India. Located in the deltaic region cuddled by the rivers of Krishna and Godavari, Kolleru Lake Bird Sanctuary receives migratory birds from Siberia, the Philippines, Australia and Egypt. Thus, bird watchers can have a whale of a time here to spot red-chested pod chards, egrets, migratory ducks, water birds, pintails, herons, etc.

Pulicat Sanctuary
Edging the border of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Pulicat Sanctuary is a brackish water lagoon which is also the second largest in India. The sanctuary sees hundreds of migratory birds which look beautiful. Its evergreen forest acts as an ideal breeding ground for birds like flamigoes, pelicans, ibises, cormorants, egrets, etc. Visitors can also spot reptiles like Monitor lizards, cobras, Russell’s vipers, etc. in the park.   

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park
Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park spreads over an area of 353 square kilometres, covering Kadapa and Chittoor districts of Andhra Pradesh. Nestling by the hills of Tirumala and Seshachalam, the Park is all about verdant green valleys, deep gorges, plateaus and sharp slopes. It has some splendid looking waterfalls too which add to its beauty. Here over 1,500 flora species can be found apart from animals like wild boar, nilgai, leopard, Indian giant squirrel, flying lizards, hyena, spotted deer, etc.
