Puttaparthi

One of the most preferred locations by travellers in the Southern state of Andhra Pradesh is Puttaparthi. When one hears of Puttaparthi, the immediate thought that flashes is its association with certain beliefs. When it comes to visiting places of religious importance, those who do not confine themselves to certain barriers love to have an essence of everything that nature has to offer without tags. This go to destination is one such blessed location which holds natural beauty in abundance. Without any further ado, let’s take you through some of the beautiful touristic locations of Puttaparthi.

Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre is a famous planetarium in Puttaparthi launched in the year 1985. The theatre explores around the world of Astronomy, Mathematics and Physics. Planetarium shows are conducted every week and they are offered free of cost. The planetarium has an updated technology and it helps to stimulate interest about the universe.

While on the topic of science and history, Chaitanya Jyoti Museum houses collections of various artifacts that depict Sai Baba’s life since his childhood. The architecture used in the construction of the museum is amazing. It is a blend of Chinese, Thai and Japanese style of architecture and it is one of its kind in India. With a picturesque view, the museum is constructed on the slope of a hill and it looks grand when viewed from every possible angle.

Shifting our focus to the religious side, the city has Anjaneya Hanuman Swamy Temple. This temple is located at the Gopuram road. The entrance of the temple is embellished by a marvellous Shiva Lingam. The deity in the sanctum of the temple looks as if carved on a cavern. The pool of water at the deity’s foot is considered tears of Hanuman, which shows the depth of Hanuman’s devotion to Lord Rama.

Another site of devotional beliefs is the Village Mosque. It is believed that before the mosque was built, the place was the centre to various untoward incidents. It was only after the construction of the mosque that such incidents stopped occurring. Moreover, it is believed that a plate with Islamic inscriptions was found on the site on which the Village Mosque was constructed.

Our next stop is the Chitravathi River which is considered as new Ganges by the devotees of Sai Baba. According to beliefs, the banks of the river were where Sai Baba played many miracles.

Puttaparthi can be enjoyed for its style of architecture and the life style of people where the level of tolerance towards other beliefs is higher than seen in many other places.
